Pupils at Roydon Primary School in Essex, England, are "in the pink" over Roseland in Roydon. Epping Forest Arts has organised a project about sheds and village greens around the district. Roydon is one of five villages taking part in the project, called Common or Garden. It involves an artist working with the community to create an event unique to the parish.
Roxane Permar has been working with Year 5 pupils ( 9 to 10 year olds) to customise their shed in advance of the village plant exchange. The shed is currently on wheels in the school playground where the pupils have painted it bright pink and begun decorating it. Head teacher, Marilyn Oparah, laughed, "it's an absolutely vivid pink!" Everythng in the shed will also be pink, including trowles, labels, watering cans, seed packets and hanging baskets.
Year 5 pupils have prepared seeds to exchange with another primary school in Shetland.
