Suddenly I am thinking again about artists' groups. I have a love-hate relationship with them. This new line of thought was triggered by a book. On Tuesday I received a copy of the book published to celebrate the Malkasten Artists' Society's 150th anniversary. It is the oldest artists' society in Düsseldorf and one of my hosts and sponsors.
At the moment I am dealing with artists' organisations on a daily basis. There is Veer North in Shetland. I am working on a commission for Newlyn Art Gallery whose history dates back to the l9th century and the Newlyn Society of Artists. And of course I have been preparing for my presentation at WG, a programme which was created by artists and is organised by artists for artists.
